Why we exist

Many D/deaf creatives and artists struggle to be heard or recognised. Isolation due to cultural and communication barriers is widespread.
Resonant Arts is a leading deaf-led artist network, encompassing visual arts, craft and digital arts. We exist to support emerging D/deaf artists with their professional and artistic development, enabling them to become established and part of the mainstream arts world.
Whilst our focus is on D/deaf artists we welcome hearing and disabled people who are interested in working collaboratively with D/deaf artists.
We believe that by bridging the deaf and hearing worlds, powerful new collaborations and understanding will emerge, benefiting us all.
Resonant Arts is committed to overcoming the isolation that D/deaf artists experience, through creating networks of D/deaf artists and increasing their opportunities to network and establish themselves in the wider arts community.
Resonant Arts works with all ages and cultures, and is committed to inclusion and diversity.
Resonant Arts encourages all the artists they work with to express their identity through their creativity and related work. We are always looking for new partnerships and projects.
2019 update: Omeima Mudawi-Rowlings, founder of Resonant, is currently undertaking research into the creation of a national network of organisations and individual practitioners who want to support better integration of deaf people into cultural roles, enjoyment and participation, and to improve the ways in which deaf and hearing worlds can learn from, and inspire each other, for mutual benefit and advancement. If this interests you, please contact Omeima via the contact page.
